Online ATEX consultation – fast, practical engineering help
More and more ATEX questions arrive by e-mail: one or two quick questions, then two more – while the project is often not yet at the point where a full Explosion Protection Document or detailed design should start. These online packages exist so that fast, well-framed ATEX help is available – without launching a “big project”.
Who is the online ATEX support for?
For professionals and companies that deal with explosive atmospheres and want a fast, targeted ATEX answer – not a 300-page theoretical document. Whether based on an existing Explosion Protection Document (EPD) and zone classification, or on newly arising questions.
Packages and prices
The prices shown are net, transparent, rounded amounts. The “Quick ATEX question” package is available at an introductory, discounted price, so you can get a fast, professional answer to smaller questions too.
1. Quick ATEX question – e-mail consultation
What is it for?
- “Should this area be treated as a zone with this kind of technology?”
- “Is this Ex motor / luminaire / sensor suitable for this zone?”
- “Based on the existing EPD and zone drawing, which Ex equipment should we pick here?”
What's included?
- 1 specific topic (2–3 sub-questions may relate to it).
- A quick review of a short description, SDS, photo, drawing or EPD excerpt.
- A clear, practical answer by e-mail.
- Typically around 30–45 minutes of engineering work.
Not included
- Preparation of a full Explosion Protection Document (EPD).
- Issuing a complete zone classification or zone drawing.
- A signed expert opinion for official proceedings.
2. 1 day of online ATEX support
When is it recommended?
- When ATEX questions keep coming all day during a project.
- When you have to choose between several drawings, layouts or solution options.
- When you want a “background ATEX engineer” for one intensive day.
What's included?
- 1 calendar day, max. 2–3 hours of engineering work.
- E-mail coordination throughout the day.
- Max. 1× 30–60 min online meeting (Teams / Zoom / Meet).
- Answers on the given day, on working days between 9:00–17:00.
Often includes an equipment and protection recommendation for the given Ex zone, based on an existing EPD.
3. 1-week online project-preparation support
When is it useful?
- At the start of a new project (e.g. alcohol storage, dusty technology, packaging-line extension).
- When you are still at concept level but need a clear view of the ATEX implications.
What's included?
- 1 week (Mon–Fri), max. 8 hours of engineering work in total.
- E-mail coordination and review of materials.
- Max. 2× 45 min online meetings during the week.
- At the end of the week, a short written summary of the expected ATEX tasks and recommended next steps.
4. Quick professional review of a document / drawing
Typical cases
- ATEX screening of already-prepared design documentation.
- A quick “Ex-eyed” review of supplier drawings and layouts.
- Interpretation of existing EPD excerpts, with supplementary suggestions.
What's included?
- Review of max. 10–15 pages of documents or 1–2 drawings.
- Red comments / short professional remarks.
- A short summary e-mail of the key findings.
Often includes a concrete equipment recommendation for existing Ex zones (electrical, mechanical and process fittings, enclosures, markings).
How does the online ATEX consultation work?
Choose a package
Review the package descriptions and decide which one fits your situation. You'll find the “Choose a package & enquire” button at the bottom of the cards and at the top of the page.
Fill in the online enquiry form
The button takes you to an online enquiry form where you provide your contact details, briefly describe the project / your questions, and select from the list which package you're interested in.
Feedback and professional proposal
Once the form arrives, I review the details and contact you by e-mail: I clarify the specifics, send short professional feedback and recommended next steps. If needed, I provide a written quote.
Agreement and invoicing
If you accept the proposal, we finalise the engagement by e-mail. Only then do I ask for the billing details and issue the pro-forma invoice / invoice for the selected package.
Consultation and next steps
According to the package, I prepare the e-mail answer and/or we hold the online meeting. If it turns out the task goes beyond the online package (full EPD, detailed design, on-site survey), I prepare a separate, project-based quote.
What the online packages cover – and what they don't
Covered, among others
- Answering short, targeted ATEX questions.
- Interpreting an existing Explosion Protection Document and zone classification.
- Recommendations on Ex equipment, electrical / mechanical fittings for the given zone (protection level, enclosure, marking).
- Preliminary risk review of the ATEX implications of a planned investment.
- A “second opinion” on existing solutions, with fast professional feedback.
- Commenting on smaller drawings and layout sketches.
Not covered
- Preparation of a full Explosion Protection Document (EPD).
- Issuing official zone classification documentation and zone drawings.
- Detailed electrical, mechanical or fire-protection design.
- Issuing signed expert opinions for official proceedings.
- On-site survey, in-person walk-through.
Want a fast, practical answer to your ATEX question?
If you have a specific question, a running project, or simply want a clearer view of what ATEX obligations lie ahead, choose the package that suits you and send your enquiry. Sending the form is not yet an order: based on your details we first discuss things by e-mail, and I send a quote if needed.
The online ATEX consultation packages do not replace a full Explosion Protection Document or an on-site survey. For complex projects, a tailored, project-based quote is always prepared.
