Why choose a multi-year structure? Explosion protection compliance is not a one-time task; it's an ongoing operational risk-management process. A longer-term contract gives predictable technical support and planned cost control, while helping reduce the risk of large ad-hoc costs from emergency repairs, documentation gaps, audit findings, shutdowns or authority penalties.
The problem

ATEX compliance doesn't happen once a year

Technology, material use, maintenance, equipment purchases and operating conditions change continuously. Yet in many facilities, explosion protection documentation is only reviewed when an audit, insurer request or authority inspection is approaching.

Typical problem

  • It's not clear whether the documentation is still up to date
  • New equipment is introduced without ATEX pre-screening
  • Everything has to be checked in a rush before an audit
  • The technical or EHS manager is left alone with specialist ATEX questions
  • Defects are discovered late, when intervention is already more expensive

Solution: monthly ATEX expert support

  • Regular on-site presence
  • Ongoing professional availability
  • ATEX review of changes before implementation
  • Deficiency list and recommended actions
  • Predictable monthly cost instead of unexpected large corrective expenses
Business case

Why monthly ATEX support also makes business sense

Neglected explosion protection is not only a technical issue; it's also a financial risk. A failure, shutdown, audit finding or authority issue can often cost far more than regular preventive control.

Predictable monthly cost

The company can plan ATEX expert support in advance instead of treating each issue as a separate unplanned expense.

Fewer unexpected expenses

Regular control can help identify defects and gaps early, before they lead to costly repairs, shutdowns or urgent documentation work.

Lower compliance risk

Documentation gaps, unsuitable Ex equipment or undocumented technical changes can become serious issues during audits, insurer reviews or authority inspections.

The goal is not to create another cost, but to reduce the risk of larger unexpected costs. With planned expert support, many companies can avoid last-minute corrective action, urgent surcharges, documentation backlog and reactive problem-solving.
Who is it for?

Who is monthly ATEX support for?

For industrial companies where flammable gases, vapours, mists, dusts or combustible materials create a need for continuous technical control.

Paint, solvent and chemical facilities

Paint mixing, washing areas, solvent cleaning, chemical storage, dosing, closed or partially open processes.

Food industry and dusty processes

Flour, sugar, powders, granules, packaging materials, dosing, conveying, bagging and extraction systems.

Printing, packaging and manufacturing

Solvent-based technologies, printing inks, cleaning agents, adhesives and technical modifications.

Sites under audit and maintenance pressure

Where EHS, maintenance or technical managers regularly need support for ATEX-related decisions.

EHS + ATEX

Why EHS capacity alone is often not enough

In many companies the natural response is that ATEX topics are handled by the EHS, HSE or safety team. This internal role is essential, but explosion protection often requires specialist engineering, field experience and specific technical tools.

The EHS role is important, but not always sufficient

  • EHS may not have detailed Ex electrical and mechanical engineering background
  • There may be no capacity for regular on-site ATEX control
  • Assessing the condition of Ex equipment requires specialist experience
  • The link between documentation, zone classification, equipment changes and maintenance can break down
  • Before an audit, missing records or certificates are often discovered too late

We support the EHS team with ATEX expertise

  • ATEX engineering support for technical decisions
  • On-site explosion protection walkthroughs and practical checks
  • Preliminary ATEX review of Ex equipment, machines and process modifications
  • Structured deficiency lists and action points
  • A technical bridge between EHS, maintenance, engineering and project teams
We don't replace the EHS team — we strengthen their work. With explosion protection engineering background, on-site ATEX experience and practical field-level insight, we help internal stakeholders make faster, more confident and better documented decisions.
What's included

What is included in monthly support?

The aim is not to create new documentation every month, but to keep the facility's ATEX status under continuous control.

Quarterly site visit

Regular technical review of selected hazardous or potentially affected areas on site.

Monthly online consultation

Discussion of current questions, changes, purchases, audit preparation or technical dilemmas.

E-mail-based expert support

Short, targeted ATEX opinions and guidance within the agreed support framework.

Deficiency list management

Structuring identified ATEX risks, documentation gaps and recommended actions into a trackable format.

Change management support

Preliminary ATEX review of new equipment, new materials, process changes or maintenance-related modifications.

Audit and insurer support

Expert support for internal audits, customer audits, insurer questions or preparation for authority inspections.

More than consulting

Field-level ATEX support and specialist tools

Inspection, documentation and fault identification in hazardous areas can't always be performed with standard office tools or general maintenance equipment.

A mindset adapted to hazardous areas

In ATEX zones it matters what device, instrument, camera, thermal camera or hand tool is used. Field work must be planned with zone classification, ignition-source risk and site rules in mind.

Practical control of Ex equipment

Not only about documents: the aim is also to review Ex equipment, zone boundaries, ventilation, markings, physical condition and maintenance issues in practice.

Support for inspections and records

Inspection, record keeping, condition monitoring and maintenance documentation of Ex equipment are highly regulated — internal teams get external technical support here.

Identifying field defects and risks

Many ATEX problems are visible not in documentation but on site: damaged glands, unsuitable cable entries, missing markings, ageing equipment, modified processes or undocumented interventions.

Specialist tools without major investment

Hazardous-area cameras, industrial imaging tools, thermal cameras and instruments require significant investment. For many companies, maintaining a full in-house toolset is not economical.

Engineering background with field reality

Not only a theoretical documentation perspective: practical aspects of site operation, maintenance, electrical systems, machinery and process environment are included too.

Business advantage: the company doesn't need to buy every specialist ATEX-capable camera, instrument or field tool from its own budget. Monthly support provides external expertise, site experience and targeted field-level support at a predictable cost.
Getting started

How the cooperation starts

Monthly ATEX support is not a generic consulting service. First we need to understand the real process, documentation status and risk points of the facility.

Online pre-screening

A short discussion about the technology, materials and available documentation.

Initial site visit

Review of the main ATEX-relevant areas, zones, equipment and documentation status.

Support framework

We define the required frequency, availability and focus areas for the cooperation.

Ongoing control

Monthly consultation, quarterly site visits and handling of current ATEX questions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does this replace explosion protection documentation?

No. Monthly support does not automatically include preparing complete new explosion protection documentation. The purpose is to continuously monitor the existing status, changes and ATEX-related questions. If new or complete documentation is required, a separate offer is prepared.

Does this replace the EHS or HSE team?

No. The purpose is not to replace the EHS team but to strengthen it. EHS remains responsible for internal compliance processes, while we provide explosion protection engineering, field-level and documentation support for specialist ATEX questions.

How can this reduce unexpected costs?

Regular ATEX control can help identify documentation gaps, unsuitable Ex equipment, maintenance issues or process changes early. This may reduce the likelihood of urgent high-cost interventions, audit findings, authority issues, production shutdowns or last-minute corrective actions.

Why choose monthly support instead of a one-time inspection?

Because ATEX risk does not exist only on the day of inspection. New equipment, new materials, modified ventilation, maintenance interventions or audit questions can arise at any time. Monthly support provides continuous expert background for these situations.

Does the monthly fee include repair or installation work?

The monthly fee primarily includes expert support, site review, documentation control and ATEX guidance. Larger repair, installation, modification or multi-day site works are handled under a separate offer.

How long is the multi-year contractual discount valid?

The introductory offer is valid for contracts ordered and confirmed by 31 July 2026. A 5% monthly fee discount is available for 3-year contracts and a 10% monthly fee discount for 5-year contracts.

Is this useful for smaller facilities?

Yes, if flammable materials, dust, solvents, paints, alcohol, chemicals or Ex-zoned equipment are present. For smaller companies, external ATEX expertise can be especially valuable because they often don't have a dedicated in-house explosion protection specialist.

Is there a minimum contract period?

Due to the nature of ongoing support, at least a 6-month cooperation period is recommended. Different structures may be possible based on individual agreement.
